Cam's progress with his new therapy is nothing short of miraculous! His therapist is a body-builder and believes that people with spinal injuries can be taught to use core strength to compensate for injured nerves. Muscles have memories, and they can be used! Cameron is on his knees and crawling baby moves. He can now sit up and balance for longer than he ever has before, without touching the back of his wheelchair. Check out www.sittallstandtall.com. Check under Warriors on the left side of the page.
My sister is now in Ireland. She called me today (YAY!) and said that it stays light until about 11 pm and gets light at 3:30. Shades of Alaska! I am, with help, getting all of her stuff into storage, and selling the rest, or donating it. Then I get to start deeply on MY own house. Good stuff!
Cam had his 4 month check-up with his surgeon. More X-rays, and this time, there was new bone-growth, and he said that everything looks wonderful and in alignment. However, there is definitely some problems with his hips, THEY are way out of alignment and need to be worked on. Then muscles are contracting because of all the sitting he does. We're working on it!
Cam is a member of Toastmasters, a speaking organization, and gave their "Inspirational" talk tonight. He did a fantastic job of it. Afterwards, we went out to get some ice cream. He had a strawberry shake, and I got a chocolate (most important food group, y'all) banana marshmallow shake. Cam ate mine, and so did I. He didn't finish his own. We all shared some fries, too. Yum. Then we came home and ate dinner. Ok, a little unorthodox, but it worked for us this one time. Live outside the box every now and then. Then go back to normal....
Oh, we have a sign at our house that says "Around here, normal is just a setting on the dryer". How appropriate!
Sooooooooooo, we are doing well, going with the punches, and throwing a few of our own. Hopefully, soon there will be a video for us to show you of progress.
Thanks for listening, and we'll leave the light on for ya!
Love you all,
Sharon
